The 1959 Roosevelt dime stands as a beautiful example of mid-century American coinage. Struck in 90% silver, this Gem Proof coin showcases the meticulous craftsmanship of the Philadelphia Mint. Because it is a proof strike from Philadelphia, it does not bear a mint mark, distinguishing it from other issues of the era. The coin contains approximately 0.0715 troy ounces of pure silver within its total silver content of 0.0723 ounces. On the obverse, the profile of President Franklin D. Roosevelt faces left. Surrounding his portrait are the legible inscriptions of liberty and the national motto, alongside the 1959 year of issue. The initials of the designer are also visible near the base of the neck. The reverse of the dime presents a powerful trio of symbols arranged from left to right: an olive branch representing peace, a central lit torch symbolizing liberty, and an oak branch signifying strength and victory. Intertwined among these elements is the traditional Latin motto of unity, while the country name and the ten-cent denomination wrap around the outer border.
