1960 Franklin Half Dollar MS-65 NGC

This mid-century silver half dollar from 1960 offers a wonderful glimpse into American coinage history. Struck in 90% silver, containing 0.3575 troy ounces of precious metal, the coin is a stunning representative of the classic Franklin series. This particular specimen has been certified in Mint State 65 (MS-65), indicating a highly preserved surface with its original mint luster intact. The obverse of the coin features a right-facing portrait of Benjamin Franklin, one of the most famous founding figures of the United States. Surrounding his profile are the traditional inscriptions of LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST, along with the 1960 date of issue. The clean, dignified portrait was created by designer John R. Sinnock. On the reverse, the central focus is the historic Liberty Bell, complete with its famous crack. To the right of the bell, a small eagle with spread wings is visible, a design element added to fulfill legal requirements for the denomination. The reverse also bears the inscriptions of the country of origin, the face value of HALF DOLLAR, and the traditional motto E PLURIBUS UNUM.
