The coin is composed of 90 percent silver, containing 0.3575 troy ounces of the precious metal. This particular specimen has been certified in Mint State 65 (MS-65), indicating a high level of preservation that allows its original design details to remain remarkably clear. The obverse of the coin presents a right-facing profile of Benjamin Franklin, one of the nation's most famous founding figures. Accompanying his likeness are the traditional inscriptions of LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST, along with the 1961 date of manufacture. John R. Sinnock designed this distinctive portrait, bringing a sense of historical dignity to the circulating currency of the era.
