1961 Franklin Half Dollar MS-65 NGC

0.3575 troy oz .900 1961 MS-65 (NGC)

The 1961 Franklin Half Dollar represents a classic era of United States silver coinage. Struck in 90% pure silver at the Philadelphia Mint, this coin contains 0.3575 troy ounces of precious metal. This particular specimen is certified in Mint State 65 (MS-65) condition, showcasing the original luster and detail of its mid-twentieth-century manufacture. On the obverse, a right-facing profile of Benjamin Franklin occupies the center. The design is accompanied by the inscriptions LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST, along with the 1961 year of issue. Because it was produced in Philadelphia, the coin carries no mint mark, leaving the space above the bell on the reverse clean and open. The reverse features the historic Liberty Bell, complete with its famous crack and wooden yoke. To the right of the bell, the traditional motto E PLURIBUS UNUM is visible, while the words UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and the HALF DOLLAR denomination frame the central image. This design by John R. Sinnock remains a favorite among those who appreciate American history and numismatic artistry.
