Struck in Philadelphia, this 1962 half dollar represents the classic era of United States silver coinage. Composed of 90 percent silver, which equates to 0.3575 troy ounces of precious metal, this particular specimen is certified in Mint State 64 condition, preserving its original luster and sharp details. The obverse of the coin features a right-facing profile of Benjamin Franklin, one of America's most revered founding figures. This portrait, designed by John R. Sinnock, is accompanied by the inscriptions of LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST, along with the 1962 date. Because it was minted at the Philadelphia facility, the coin does not bear a mint mark. On the reverse, the iconic Liberty Bell takes center stage, complete with its famous crack. To the right of the bell, a small eagle with spread wings is visible, a design element required by law. The reverse inscriptions include the country of origin, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, the denomination of HALF DOLLAR, and the traditional motto E PLURIBUS UNUM.
