1962 Franklin Half Dollar PF-67 NGC

Struck at the Philadelphia Mint in 1962, this half dollar represents the classic mid-century era of United States coinage. This particular specimen is preserved in an exceptional Proof 67 state, a high grade that highlights the artistry and crisp details of the original strike. Containing 0.3575 troy ounces of 90 percent pure silver, the coin represents a time when precious metal circulated freely in American commerce. The obverse of the coin presents a right-facing profile of Benjamin Franklin, one of America's most famous founding figures. Surrounding his likeness are the inscriptions of liberty, the national motto of trust in God, and the year of production, 1962. Because it was minted in Philadelphia, the coin carries no mint mark, leaving the fields around the portrait clean and uncluttered. On the reverse, the design features the historic Liberty Bell as its central focus. Accompanying the bell are the traditional inscriptions denoting the United States of America, the half dollar denomination, and the Latin phrase translating to "out of many, one." A small eagle also stands to the side of the bell, completing a design originally conceived by John R. Sinnock.
