The 1962 Franklin half dollar stands as a remarkable example of mid-twentieth-century American coinage. Struck in 90% silver, this particular piece contains 0.3575 troy ounces of precious metal. It has been certified in Proof-67 Ultra Cameo condition, a designation that highlights the intense, frosted contrast between the raised design elements and the deeply mirrored backgrounds. On the obverse, a right-facing profile of Benjamin Franklin dominates the field. Surrounding his likeness are the classic inscriptions of LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST, along with the 1962 date. Because this coin was struck at the Philadelphia mint, it does not feature a mint mark. The reverse side presents a detailed depiction of the historic Liberty Bell, complete with its famous crack. To the right of the bell, a small eagle with spread wings is visible, fulfilling the legal requirement for the denomination. The reverse also bears the inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, and HALF DOLLAR, completing a design conceived by John R. Sinnock.
