Struck at the Philadelphia Mint in 1962, this half dollar represents a brilliant example of mid-twentieth-century American coinage. The coin is composed of 90 percent silver, containing 0.3575 troy ounces of the precious metal. It has been certified as a Proof 66 specimen, highlighting its sharp details and exceptional preservation. The obverse of the coin features a right-facing portrait of Benjamin Franklin, designed by John R. Sinnock. Surrounding the profile of the famous statesman and inventor are the inscriptions of LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST, alongside the 1962 date. Because it was minted in Philadelphia, the coin carries no mint mark. On the reverse, Sinnock's design showcases the iconic Liberty Bell, complete with its famous crack. To the right of the bell, a small eagle with outspread wings is visible, fulfilling the legal requirement for the denomination. The reverse legends include the country of issue, the traditional motto E PLURIBUS UNUM, and the face value of HALF DOLLAR.
