1962 Franklin Half Dollar PR-67 CAMEO PCGS

0.3575 troy oz .900 1962 Proof - 67 Cameo (PCGS)

Struck at the Philadelphia mint in 1962, this mid-century silver half dollar represents a beautiful marriage of American history and numismatic artistry. The coin is composed of 90 percent silver, containing 0.3575 troy ounces of the precious metal. As a proof strike, it has been preserved in an exceptional Proof 67 Cameo condition, highlighting the intense contrast between the frosted details and the mirror-like fields. The obverse of the coin presents a right-facing profile of Benjamin Franklin, one of the nation's most famous founding figures. This side features the word LIBERTY positioned above his portrait, with the solemn promise IN GOD WE TRUST below, alongside the 1962 date. Designed by John R. Sinnock, the clean lines of the portrait capture a dignified and thoughtful representation of Franklin. On the reverse, the design showcases the historic Liberty Bell, complete with its famous crack. To the right of the bell, a small eagle with spread wings is visible, fulfilling the traditional requirement for the denomination. The inscriptions on this side include the issuing authority, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, the denomination of HALF DOLLAR, and the traditional motto E PLURIBUS UNUM. Because this piece was minted in Philadelphia, it carries no mint mark, leaving the fields clean and focused entirely on the symbolic imagery.
