Struck at the Philadelphia Mint in 1962, this mid-century half dollar is a beautiful example of American coin design. Made from 90 percent silver, the coin contains 0.3575 troy ounces of precious metal. It has been certified as a Proof 67 Deep Cameo, a designation that highlights the intense, frosted contrast between the raised designs and the mirror-like background fields. The obverse features a right-facing portrait of Benjamin Franklin, designed by John R. Sinnock. Surrounding the profile are the inscriptions of LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST, along with the 1962 date. Because it was minted in Philadelphia, this coin carries no mint mark. On the reverse, the iconic Liberty Bell takes center stage, complete with its famous crack. To the right of the bell, a small eagle with spread wings is visible. The reverse inscriptions include the traditional motto E PLURIBUS UNUM, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, and the denomination HALF DOLLAR.
