Struck at the Philadelphia Mint during the mid-century era, the 1962 Franklin half dollar represents a classic era of American coinage. This particular specimen is a proof issue, certified in an exceptional Proof 67 condition. Containing 0.3575 troy ounces of 90 percent pure silver, the coin showcases the artistry of designer John R. Sinnock with remarkable clarity. The obverse of the coin features a detailed, right-facing portrait of Benjamin Franklin. Surrounding his likeness are the inscriptions for liberty and the national motto of trust, alongside the 1962 date. Because it was minted in Philadelphia, the coin carries no mint mark, leaving the focus entirely on the clean lines of the mid-century design. On the reverse, the central motif is the historic Liberty Bell, complete with its famous crack. To the right of the bell, a small eagle with spread wings is visible, fulfilling the traditional requirements for United States silver coinage.
