In 1963, the Denver Mint produced a striking silver half dollar that captures a distinct era in American numismatic design. This 90 percent silver coin, certified in Mint State 64 condition, represents the final year of the beloved Franklin series. With a precious metal content of 0.3575 troy ounces, the piece feels substantial, carrying both historical weight and visual appeal. The obverse is dedicated to Benjamin Franklin, showing his right-facing profile in elegant detail. Surrounding this central portrait are the inscriptions of LIBERTY and the timeless national motto, IN GOD WE TRUST, along with the 1963 date. The design, created by John R. Sinnock, presents a clean, dignified representation of one of the nation's most famous founding figures. On the reverse, the imagery shifts to Philadelphia's historic Liberty Bell, complete with its famous crack. To the right of the bell, a small eagle with spread wings stands out, fulfilling the traditional requirement for the denomination.
