The 1963 Franklin Half Dollar stands as a beautiful example of mid-twentieth-century American coinage. Struck in 90% silver, this particular piece has been certified in Proof 67 condition, highlighting the exceptional quality of its manufacture. Because this coin was produced at the Philadelphia Mint, it does not feature a mint mark, a traditional characteristic of issues from that facility. On the obverse, the coin displays a right-facing profile of Benjamin Franklin, one of America's most famous founding figures. This side is inscribed with the word LIBERTY, the national motto IN GOD WE TRUST, and the 1963 date of issue. The initials of the designer, John R. Sinnock, are also subtly integrated into the design. The reverse of the coin features a detailed depiction of the Liberty Bell, complete with its famous crack. Alongside the bell, a small eagle is visible, satisfying the legal requirement for the bird to appear on the half dollar.
