1963 Franklin Half Dollar PF-67 Ultra Cameo NGC
Struck in 1963, this United States half dollar is a brilliant example of mid-twentieth-century coinage. Composed of 90 percent silver, which equates to 0.3575 troy ounces of precious metal, this particular specimen has been certified in an exceptional Proof 67 Ultra Cameo condition. The designation highlights the dramatic visual contrast between the frosted, detailed devices and the deep, mirror-like fields of the coin. The obverse presents a right-facing portrait of Benjamin Franklin, one of America's most famous founding figures. The design, created by John R. Sinnock, features the word LIBERTY arching above the bust, with the motto IN GOD WE TRUST positioned below. The year 1963 is placed clearly to the right of Franklin's shoulder. Because this coin was minted at the Philadelphia facility, it does not bear a mint mark. On the reverse, the iconic Liberty Bell takes center stage, complete with its famous crack. To the left of the bell, the traditional motto E PLURIBUS UNUM is inscribed, while a small eagle with outspread wings balances the design on the right. The words UNITED STATES OF AMERICA curve along the upper rim, and the denomination HALF DOLLAR is showcased below the bell, completing this classic piece of American numismatic artistry.
