1963 Franklin Half Dollar PR-65 PCGS

Struck at the Philadelphia Mint in 1963, this mid-century silver half dollar represents the final year of its series. The coin is composed of 90 percent silver, containing 0.3575 troy ounces of the precious metal. It has been certified as a Proof 65 specimen, showcasing the sharp details and polished finish characteristic of proof strikes. The obverse of the coin features a right-facing profile of Benjamin Franklin, one of America's most famous founding figures. Surrounding his portrait are the inscriptions LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST, along with the 1963 date. This clean, dignified portrait was created by designer John R. Sinnock. On the reverse, the central focus is the historic Liberty Bell, complete with its famous crack. To the right of the bell, a small eagle with spread wings is visible. The reverse inscriptions include the denomination HALF DOLLAR, the nation of origin, and the traditional motto E PLURIBUS UNUM. Because this coin was minted in Philadelphia, it does not bear a mint mark.
