1971-S Roosevelt Dime Gem Proof
The 1971-S Roosevelt Dime stands as a striking example of modern American proof coinage. Produced at the San Francisco Mint, this coin features a highly polished finish that highlights the sharp details of its design. On the obverse, the coin displays the left-facing profile of President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Surrounding his portrait are the classic inscriptions of LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST, alongside the 1971 year of issue and the distinctive S mint mark, indicating its origin in San Francisco. The tiny initials JS are also visible near the base of the neck. The reverse of the dime presents a powerful trio of symbols arranged from left to right: an olive branch representing peace, a central lit torch symbolizing liberty, and an oak branch signifying strength and independence. Woven around these elements are the traditional legends UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and the denomination of ONE DIME, along with the motto E PLURIBUS UNUM divided across the design.
