Struck in 1972 to mark a century and a half of Brazilian independence, this gold coin carries a face value of 300 Cruzeiros. The piece contains 0.4925 ounces of gold, refined to a purity of 0.920. It represents a modern commemorative issue from a total mintage of 50,000 pieces, preserved in an exceptional state of preservation graded Mint State 67. The obverse features the profiles of two prominent national figures, Pedro I and Emilio Garrastazu Medici, set against a stylized wave pattern. The dual dates of 1822 and 1972 are inscribed to mark the sesquicentennial milestone. On the reverse, an outline map of Brazil radiates sunbeams originating from the capital city of Brasilia, accompanied by the bold inscriptions BRASIL and 300 CRUZEIROS. The entire design was crafted by the artist Raymond Joly.
