1972 Kennedy Half Dollar BU

0.0000 troy oz 1972 Brilliant Unc

The 1972 Kennedy half dollar stands as a classic representative of modern American coinage. Struck in Philadelphia, this fifty cent piece features a composition of copper and nickel bonded to a core of pure copper. Presented in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, the coin retains its original luster, allowing the fine details of its engraving to be appreciated just as they were when it first left the mint. On the obverse, a left facing portrait of President John F. Kennedy dominates the field. This likeness, created by Gilroy Roberts, is accompanied by the national motto, IN GOD WE TRUST, split across the lower portion of the bust, with the date 1972 inscribed along the bottom rim. The reverse, designed by Frank Gasparro, displays a detailed heraldic eagle. The majestic bird holds a bundle of arrows in one talon and an olive branch in the other, symbolizing both strength and peace. Above the eagle, the traditional Latin motto, E PLURIBUS UNUM, is clearly legible, surrounded by the inscription UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and the denomination, HALF DOLLAR.
