1973-D Kennedy Half Dollar BU

0.0000 troy oz 1973 Brilliant Unc

The 1973 Kennedy half dollar, struck at the Denver Mint, stands as a classic representation of modern United States coinage. This particular specimen remains in brilliant uncirculated condition, preserving the sharp details of its original production. Unlike earlier silver issues in the series, this coin features a copper and nickel outer layer bonded to a core of pure copper, a composition that became the standard for circulating half dollars starting in 1971. On the obverse, the profile of President John F. Kennedy faces left. This portrait, designed by Gilroy Roberts, is accompanied by the national motto, IN GOD WE TRUST, and the date of production. The Denver origin is indicated by the small D mint mark positioned just above the date. The reverse side, created by Frank Gasparro, features a detailed heraldic eagle. The eagle holds a bundle of arrows in one claw and an olive branch in the other, symbolizing both strength and peace. The inscriptions on this side include the issuing nation, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, and the denomination, HALF DOLLAR.
