1977-D Kennedy Half Dollar BU

0.0000 troy oz 1977 Brilliant Unc

The 1977 Kennedy half dollar stands as a classic example of modern United States coinage, minted in Denver. This particular specimen survives in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, preserving the sharp details of its original strike just as it appeared when leaving the mint facility. Unlike earlier silver issues in the series, this coin is composed of a copper and nickel outer layer bonded to a core of pure copper. The obverse features the left-facing portrait of President John F. Kennedy, a design created by Gilroy Roberts. Surrounding the bust is the traditional national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST," along with the 1977 date. The Denver origin is indicated by the small "D" mint mark. On the reverse, the work of Frank Gasparro is displayed. His design depicts a powerful heraldic eagle clutching both a bundle of arrows and an olive branch, symbolizing strength and peace. The reverse inscriptions include "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and the face value, "HALF DOLLAR."
