1979 Kennedy Half Dollar BU
The 1979 Kennedy half dollar stands as a classic example of modern United States coinage, preserved in brilliant uncirculated condition. This fifty cent piece features a composition of copper and nickel outer layers bonded securely to a core of pure copper, a standard for the circulating half dollars of this era. On the obverse, a left-facing bust of President John F. Kennedy dominates the design. Created by designer Gilroy Roberts, the portrait is accompanied by the national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST," and the date, 1979, along the bottom edge. The reverse, designed by Frank Gasparro, features a detailed heraldic eagle. The eagle holds a cluster of sharp arrows in one talon and a leafy olive branch in the other, representing both strength and peace. The traditional Latin motto, "E PLURIBUS UNUM," is displayed on a scroll, while the inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "HALF DOLLAR" frame the central design.
