1980-P Kennedy Half Dollar BU
The 1980 Kennedy half dollar represents a classic era of United States coinage, struck at the Philadelphia Mint. This particular specimen survives in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, preserving the sharp details of its original manufacture. Unlike earlier silver issues in the series, this coin is composed of a copper and nickel outer layer bonded to a core of pure copper, a standard composition for modern circulating half dollars. The obverse features a left-facing portrait of President John F. Kennedy, designed by Gilroy Roberts. The inscription "IN GOD WE TRUST" is positioned below the bust, with the mint mark "P" visible above the date of 1980. On the reverse, Frank Gasparro's design showcases the heraldic eagle, which holds a bundle of arrows in one claw and an olive branch in the other, symbolizing both strength and peace. The words "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "HALF DOLLAR" frame this traditional national emblem.
