1981 Mexico 1/2 oz Gold Libertad BU

0.5000 troy oz .900 1981 Brilliant Unc

In 1981, Mexico introduced a striking new gold bullion piece that captured the nation's artistic spirit and rich heritage. Struck at the historic Mexico City Mint, this half-ounce gold coin is crafted from 0.900 fine gold, representing a total of 0.5000 troy ounces of precious metal. The issue saw a mintage of 193,000 pieces, each backed by the central bank, Banco de México. The obverse of the coin displays the proud Mexican National Shield. An eagle perched upon a cactus grips a snake, surrounded by the traditional inscription ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS, which translates to the United Mexican States. On the reverse, the design showcases the Winged Victory, a symbol of freedom. She stands gracefully in the foreground, while the legendary volcanic peaks of Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl rise in the distance. The inscriptions on this side denote its weight, metal content, and year of issue, reading 1/2 ONZA ORO PURO 1981, alongside the Mo mint mark representing the Mexico City Mint.
