1984-D Kennedy Half Dollar BU
The 1984 Kennedy half dollar, struck at the Denver Mint, stands as a bright example of modern American coinage. This particular specimen remains in brilliant uncirculated condition, preserving the sharp details of its original strike just as it appeared when leaving the coining press. The composition of this issue features an outer layer of copper and nickel bonded securely to a core of pure copper. On the obverse, the profile of President John F. Kennedy faces left, a powerful portrait created by sculptor Gilroy Roberts. The design is accompanied by the national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST," split across the lower field. The Denver origin is marked by the small letter "D" positioned just above the date. On the reverse, Frank Gasparro's detailed rendering of the presidential seal displays a heraldic eagle. The eagle clutches a bundle of arrows in one claw and an olive branch in the other, symbolizing both strength and peace. The denomination "HALF DOLLAR" is inscribed along the bottom rim, completing this classic piece of United States currency.
