1986 1 oz American Silver Eagle BU

1.0000 troy oz .999 1986 Brilliant Unc

In late 1986, a new era in United States coinage began with the debut of a dedicated silver bullion piece. Released on November 24 of that year, the inaugural American Silver Eagle was created under the authority of the Liberty Coin Act. This initial issue achieved a total mintage of 5,393,005 pieces, launching what would become a globally recognized series. Each coin contains exactly one troy ounce of 99.9 percent pure silver, with its weight and metal content fully backed by the United States Mint. The visual presentation of this coin revives a celebrated piece of American numismatic art. On the front, Lady Liberty is depicted in mid-stride, draped in the national flag as she walks toward the rising sun. This iconic obverse artwork was originally created by Adolph A. Weinman. The reverse side presents a powerful heraldic eagle beneath a cluster of 13 miniature stars, representing the original colonies. This brilliant uncirculated release stands as the historic starting point for one of the most famous silver programs in the world.
