1986 1 oz Silver Round - Engelhard MS-68 PCGS (Eagle Reverse)

1.0000 troy oz .999 1986

This 1986 silver round represents the fourth year of release in the celebrated Prospector series from Engelhard. Minted from one troy ounce of 0.999 fine silver, this particular piece has been certified in an exceptional Mint State 68 condition, preserving the crisp details of its mid-century era design. Because these rounds are no longer in production, they offer a fascinating look back at historical private minting. The obverse of the round features a detailed depiction of a rugged prospector panning for gold, a classic symbol of American discovery. Surrounding this central figure are the inscriptions "THE AMERICAN PROSPECTOR", "U.S.A.", and the 1986 year of issue. On the reverse, an American eagle is displayed in flight, holding an olive branch. This side of the round also carries the Engelhard name and specifies the weight and purity, marked as "ONE TROY OUNCE" and "0.999 FINE SILVER". The combination of the prospector and the eagle designs makes this vintage round a compelling study in classic American themes.
