In 1986, the United States Mint introduced a new silver bullion tradition. This inaugural year of the American Silver Eagle series is struck from one troy ounce of 0.999 fine silver. This particular specimen is certified in pristine Mint State 70 condition, representing a flawless strike with no visible imperfections even under magnification. The obverse features the classic Walking Liberty design originally created by Adolph A. Weinman. Lady Liberty is depicted moving gracefully toward the dawn of a new day, wrapped in the folds of the American flag. The inscriptions on this face include the word LIBERTY, the national motto IN GOD WE TRUST, and the historic first-year date of 1986. On the reverse, a powerful heraldic eagle stands beneath a canopy of 13 five-pointed stars, representing the original colonies. The eagle holds an olive branch in one talon and arrows in the other, symbolizing a desire for peace but a readiness for defense.
