1986 China 1/10 oz Gold Panda BU (Sealed)
In 1986, the People's Bank of China released a tenth-ounce gold coin as part of its celebrated Panda series. Struck in 0.999 fine gold, this Brilliant Uncirculated piece represents a total mintage of 65,596 coins, each backed by the issuing nation's central bank. The front of the coin displays the Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests, a famous landmark located within Beijing's Temple of Heaven complex. Along with the architectural rendering, the Chinese characters for the People's Republic of China and the 1986 production year are inscribed on this side. On the reverse, a single giant panda is depicted making its way through a dense grove of bamboo. This detailed wildlife scene is accompanied by markings indicating the weight of one-tenth of an ounce and the gold purity of the metal.
