In 1987, the United States minted a special silver dollar to mark the bicentennial of its founding constitutional document, which was originally adopted on September 17, 1787. This legal tender coin, struck at the Philadelphia Mint, contains 0.7734 troy ounces of silver and is composed of 90 percent pure precious metal. It has been certified in perfect Mint State 70 condition, offering an immaculate look at a historic commemorative design. The obverse of the coin displays a classic quill pen laid across a sheaf of parchment paper, evoking the physical act of drafting the historic document. Prominently featured alongside these symbols are the famous opening words of the preamble, "WE THE PEOPLE". On the reverse, the design shifts to the citizens protected by the document. It portrays a diverse group of Americans from different eras, showcasing a variety of lifestyles across time. This side also bears the traditional national inscriptions, including references to the United States of America and the one dollar denomination.
