1987-P Kennedy Half Dollar BU
The 1987-P Kennedy half dollar stands as a remarkable example of modern American coinage, struck at the Philadelphia Mint. This particular coin is preserved in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, showcasing the original luster and sharp details of its design just as it appeared when first minted. Rather than containing precious silver, this issue features a copper-nickel outer layer bonded to a core of pure copper, a standard composition for the era. The obverse of the coin features a left-facing portrait of President John F. Kennedy, designed by Gilroy Roberts. This powerful bust is accompanied by the national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST," and the mint mark "P" representing the Philadelphia facility. On the reverse, designed by Frank Gasparro, a detailed heraldic eagle clutching an olive branch and a cluster of arrows is displayed, surrounded by the inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "HALF DOLLAR."
