1987-S China 1/20 oz Gold Panda MS-68 NGC
This delicate gold coin from 1987 represents a classic entry in China's celebrated Panda series. Struck at the Shanghai Mint, the piece contains 1/20 ounce of 0.999 fine gold. It has been certified in Mint State 68 condition, showcasing the exceptional preservation of its design elements and original luster. The reverse side of the coin presents a peaceful scene of a single panda leaning down to drink from a flowing river, set against a detailed background of leafy bamboo stalks. This side also features the 5 Yuan denomination. The People's Bank of China guarantees the weight and purity of this legal tender issue, which had an approximate mintage of 99,000 pieces. On the obverse, the coin displays the magnificent Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests, located within Beijing's historic Temple of Heaven complex. Encircling the top of this architectural rendering is the inscription for the People's Republic of China written in Chinese characters, while the year of production, 1987, is clearly struck at the bottom.
