Struck at the West Point Mint, this 1987 gold five-dollar coin was created to mark the bicentennial of the United States Constitution. Crafted from 0.900 fine gold and containing 0.2419 troy ounces of precious metal, this piece is preserved in an exceptional certified proof state, graded Proof 69 Deep Cameo. The obverse features a dynamic depiction of a stylized eagle in flight, grasping a quill pen in its talons as rays of light beam behind it. This theme carries over to the reverse, where a quill pen lies horizontally beneath the famous opening words of the document, "We the People," rendered in elegant calligraphy. Above this central design, an arc of thirteen stars completes the reverse imagery, celebrating the foundation of American governance.
