This particular specimen remains in brilliant uncirculated condition, preserving the crisp details of its original engraving just as it looked when it first left the coining press. On the obverse, the profile of President John F. Kennedy faces left, a design created by Gilroy Roberts. The inscription of the national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST," spans across the lower portion of the portrait, while the mint mark "P" is positioned just above the date. This side showcases the strength and dignity of the design, which has defined the denomination for decades. The reverse side, designed by Frank Gasparro, features a detailed heraldic eagle. The eagle holds a bundle of arrows in one claw and an olive branch in the other, symbolizing both strength and peace. Though these coins appear silver, they are actually composed of a copper and nickel outer layer bonded to a core of pure copper.
