The 1989 American Gold Eagle, struck in a tenth-ounce format, presents a remarkable combination of classic and modern American numismatic art. This particular specimen has been certified in an exceptional Mint State 69 condition, indicating its nearly flawless preservation since it left the United States Mint over three decades ago. The obverse of the coin showcases a legendary design adapted from the historic Gold Double Eagle. It depicts Lady Liberty walking gracefully forward, illuminated by the radiating rays of a rising sun. The year of issue is presented in elegant Roman numerals as MCMLXXXIX. On the reverse, a detailed scene created by Miley Busiek depicts a family of bald eagles. A male eagle is captured mid-flight, carrying an olive branch back to a nest that holds a female eagle and their young.
