1989 American Silver Eagle MS-69 NGC

1.0000 troy oz .999 1989 NGC

Issued in 1989, this piece represents the fourth year of the United States Mint's premier silver bullion initiative. Each coin contains one troy ounce of 99.9 percent pure silver, offering a substantial canvas for two of the nation's most celebrated numismatic designs. The front of the coin showcases a revived classic: the Walking Liberty design originally created in 1916 by Adolph A. Weinman. Lady Liberty is depicted moving gracefully toward the dawn, draped in the American flag. The inscription "IN GOD WE TRUST" is visible alongside the 1989 year of issue. On the reverse, John Mercanti's powerful heraldic eagle design takes inspiration from the Great Seal of the United States. The central eagle grips an olive branch and a cluster of arrows, symbolizing peace and preparedness, while holding a banner inscribed with "E PLURIBUS UNUM" in its beak. Thirteen small stars hover above the eagle, representing the original colonies, surrounded by the legends "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "1 OZ. FINE SILVER ONE DOLLAR."
