Struck at the West Point Mint in 1989, this impressive United States coin contains one troy ounce of gold. It stands as a beautiful example of American coin design, combining a legendary historical motif on one side with a modern family scene on the other. This particular issue has been certified in a near-perfect proof state, highlighting the meticulous craftsmanship of its production. The front of the coin showcases a celebrated design inspired by the 1907 twenty dollar gold piece created by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. It features Lady Liberty walking forward, bathed in the rays of a rising sun. The year of issue is marked in Roman numerals as MCMLXXXIX, alongside the classic inscription of liberty. On the reverse, a design by Miley Busiek captures a powerful natural scene. A male bald eagle flies back to his nest carrying an olive branch, where a female eagle and their young await.
