1990 1 oz American Gold Eagle MS-70 PCGS

1.0000 troy oz .9167 1990 PCGS

Introduced in 1990, this fifty dollar United States legal tender coin contains one troy ounce of pure gold content. It represents a beautiful continuation of American numismatic artistry, combining classic early twentieth-century imagery with a modern reverse design. The coin is fully backed by the United States government for its weight and purity, which is measured at 0.9167 fine gold. The front of the coin displays an adaptation of the famous design originally created by Augustus Saint-Gaudens for the double eagle coin. It depicts Lady Liberty walking forward with a torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other, symbolizing enlightenment and peace. The year of issue is marked in Roman numerals as MCMXC. On the reverse, a design by Miley Busiek captures a family of eagles. A male eagle is shown in flight, carrying an olive branch to a nest that holds a female eagle and her hatchlings. This side also bears the traditional inscriptions of faith and unity, alongside the weight and face value markings.
