0.2500 troy oz .9167 1990 NGC

Struck in 1990, this ten-dollar United States gold coin contains a quarter ounce of gold. It carries the 'P' mint mark, indicating its origin from the Philadelphia Minting facility, and represents a brilliant example of modern American proof coinage. The obverse side presents a celebrated design adapted from Augustus Saint-Gaudens' early twentieth-century gold double eagle. It portrays a full-length figure of Lady Liberty walking forward, bathed in the rays of a rising sun, holding a torch and an olive branch. On the reverse, designed by Miley Busiek, a family of bald eagles is depicted. A male eagle carrying an olive branch flies above a nest containing a female eagle and her hatchlings. The inscriptions on this side include the national mottos 'E PLURIBUS UNUM' and 'IN GOD WE TRUST', along with the weight and face value of the coin.
