The 1990 Kennedy half dollar, struck at the Philadelphia Mint, stands as a brilliant example of modern American coinage. This particular specimen is preserved in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, showcasing the crisp details and original luster of a coin that never entered public circulation. Rather than precious silver, this issue features a composition of copper and nickel bonded securely to a core of pure copper, a standard for the era's circulating coinage. On the obverse, the profile of President John F. Kennedy faces left, a powerful portrait created by sculptor Gilroy Roberts. Accompanying the bust are the traditional inscriptions "IN GOD WE TRUST" along with the mint mark "P" identifying its Philadelphia origin. The reverse displays the heraldic eagle design by Frank Gasparro. The eagle holds a bundle of arrows in one talon and an olive branch in the other, symbolizing both strength and peace.
