1991-P 1/2 oz Proof American Gold Eagle (w/Box & COA)

0.5000 troy oz .9167 1991 Proof

Struck at the Philadelphia Mint in 1991, this half-ounce gold coin showcases a brilliant, mirror-like proof finish that highlights the intricate details of its engraving. The United States government guarantees its weight of exactly one-half troy ounce of pure gold, representing a face value of twenty-five dollars. The front of the coin displays a classic representation of Lady Liberty, who strides forward holding a lit torch and an olive branch. This celebrated image was adapted from the famous early twentieth-century gold double eagle designed by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. On the reverse, artist Miley Busiek depicts a family of eagles, showing a male bird in flight carrying an olive branch back to a nest where a female guards her young eaglets. This side also bears the traditional inscriptions "E PLURIBUS UNUM" and "IN GOD WE TRUST," alongside the coin's weight and denomination.
