1992 1/10 oz American Gold Eagle BU
The 1992 American Gold Eagle represents a stunning fusion of classic and modern American numismatic art. Struck in a tenth-ounce format of 0.9167 fine gold, this five-dollar denomination coin carries a rich visual narrative guaranteed by the United States Mint. Despite its small diameter, the coin captures immense detail on both its obverse and reverse faces. On the obverse, the figure of Lady Liberty stands proudly, holding a lit torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other. This iconic image is adapted from the famous early twentieth-century Gold Double Eagle design by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. The word LIBERTY is inscribed above her, and the year 1992 is clearly marked alongside her path. The reverse, designed by Miley Busiek, presents a family of bald eagles. A male eagle is depicted in mid-flight, carrying an olive branch back to a nest where a female eagle and their young await. This scene is accompanied by the traditional inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, IN GOD WE TRUST, and E PLURIBUS UNUM, along with the coin's weight and face value of 5 DOLLARS.
