1992-D Kennedy Half Dollar BU
Struck at the Denver Mint in 1992, this copper and nickel clad half dollar represents a continuation of one of America's most recognizable modern coin series. The coin features a outer layer of copper and nickel bonded directly to a core of pure copper, a combination that has defined the physical makeup of circulating United States half dollars since the mid 1960s. The obverse side displays a left facing portrait of President John F. Kennedy, designed by Gilroy Roberts. Accompanying this strong profile are the inscriptions IN GOD WE TRUST and the issue year of 1992. The Denver origin is marked by the small D mint mark positioned just above the date. On the reverse, Frank Gasparro's design presents a detailed heraldic eagle. The eagle holds a bundle of arrows in one talon and an olive branch in the other, representing both strength and peace. The design is framed by the inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and HALF DOLLAR, completing a classic piece of American numismatic history.
