In 1992, the Denver Mint struck a special silver dollar to mark the two hundredth anniversary of the White House. This commemorative coin contains 0.7734 troy ounces of silver and has a purity of 0.900. It celebrates a structure whose cornerstone was originally set in place on October 13, 1792, eventually becoming the official home of the American president on November 1, 1800. The obverse of the coin, created by Edgar Z. Steever IV, showcases the recognizable north portico of the executive mansion. Legible inscriptions on this side include the words "THE WHITE HOUSE," the dual commemorative dates of "1792" and "1992," "LIBERTY," and the motto "IN GOD WE TRUST," alongside the "D" mint mark representing the Denver facility. On the reverse side, the coin honors the architect of the residence, James Hoban. A detailed bust of Hoban is displayed next to the main entranceway he designed.
