Struck at the West Point facility in New York, the coin contains exactly one troy ounce of gold with a purity of 0.9167. This annual series, which originally commenced in 1986, has become a cornerstone of modern American coinage, appreciated by observers worldwide for its artistic merit and physical presence. The front of the coin showcases a legendary design adapted from the historic Gold Double Eagle by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. Lady Liberty is depicted walking forward, illuminated by the rays of a rising sun. In her hands, she holds a flaming torch to light the way and an olive branch as a symbol of peace. The year 1993 is inscribed alongside this iconic figure. On the reverse, a detailed scene created by Miley Busiek captures a family of bald eagles. A male eagle is shown in mid-flight, carrying an olive branch as he returns to a nest containing a female eagle and their hatchlings. This side of the coin also displays the national mottos, "IN GOD WE TRUST" and "E PLURIBUS UNUM," along with the weight and the fifty dollar face value.
