1994 1 oz American Gold Eagle BU
Struck in 1994, this fifty-dollar United States legal tender coin contains one full ounce of gold, with its weight and purity fully backed by the nation's mint. It represents a beautiful blend of twentieth-century American coin design, showcasing two distinct artistic visions on its obverse and reverse faces. The front of the coin features a standing figure of Liberty, holding a glowing torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other. This powerful image is a modern adaptation of the classic design originally created by Augustus Saint-Gaudens for the early twentieth-century double eagle. The year 1994 is clearly inscribed alongside this timeless figure. On the reverse, designed by Miley Busiek, a detailed family of bald eagles unfolds. A male eagle is captured in mid-flight, carrying an olive branch back to a nest where a female eagle and her young wait. This side also bears the traditional national mottos, "E PLURIBUS UNUM" and "IN GOD WE TRUST", alongside the coin's weight and face value.
