1994-W 1 oz Proof American Gold Eagle PR-70 PCGS
Struck at the West Point Mint in 1994, this impressive fifty dollar coin contains one troy ounce of gold. The piece represents a beautiful marriage of classical twentieth-century American coin design and modern artistic vision, resulting in a highly detailed proof finish that highlights the intricate details of both sides. The front of the coin displays a celebrated design adapted from the famous 1907 Gold Double Eagle by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. It depicts Lady Liberty walking forward with strength, set against a backdrop of radiating sunbeams. The year 1994 is clearly inscribed alongside this iconic figure. On the reverse, the coin features a family of bald eagles, a detailed scene created by Miley Busiek. A male eagle is shown in mid-flight, carrying an olive branch as he returns to a nest containing a female eagle and their young. This side also bears the traditional inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, IN GOD WE TRUST, and E PLURIBUS UNUM, along with the denomination and metal weight.
