1995 1/4 oz American Gold Eagle BU
Introduced in 1986, the American Gold Eagle series has become a cornerstone of United States coinage. This 1995 issue contains a quarter ounce of actual gold weight, struck in a purity of 0.9167. Backed by the United States Mint for its weight and purity, this brilliant uncirculated piece represents a mintage of 83,752 coins. The obverse presents a classic American image, adapted from the famous early twentieth-century Gold Double Eagle design by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. It depicts Lady Liberty walking forward with a lit torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other, set against the backdrop of the Capitol building. The word LIBERTY and the 1995 date frame this powerful figure. On the reverse, a design by Miley Busiek captures a family of bald eagles. A male eagle carrying an olive branch flies toward a nest where a female eagle and her young wait. The inscriptions surrounding this scene include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, IN GOD WE TRUST, E PLURIBUS UNUM, and the denomination of 10 DOLLARS alongside the gold content of 1/4 OZ. FINE GOLD.
