Legible inscriptions on this side include the word LIBERTY, the national motto IN GOD WE TRUST, and the year of issue, 1996. On the reverse, a powerful heraldic eagle is depicted beneath a canopy of thirteen five-pointed stars, symbolizing the original colonies. The eagle holds an olive branch in one talon and arrows in the other, with a shield draped across its chest.
