1996-S Roosevelt Dime Gem Proof
The 1996-S Roosevelt Dime stands as a striking example of modern United States proof coinage, minted at the San Francisco facility. This particular specimen is preserved in Gem Proof condition, showcasing the sharp contrast and reflective surfaces characteristic of specialized proof striking methods. On the obverse, the coin features the classic left-facing profile of President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Surrounding the portrait are the inscriptions LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST, along with the 1996 year of issue and the S mint mark, which designates its origin from the San Francisco Mint. The tiny initials JS are also visible near the base of the neck, representing the designer. The reverse of the coin displays a trio of powerful symbols arranged from left to right: an olive branch representing peace, a central lighted torch symbolizing liberty, and an oak branch signifying strength and independence. Woven around these elements are the traditional legends UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, the denomination ONE DIME, and the Latin motto E PLURIBUS UNUM.
