This particular piece has been graded at the pinnacle of preservation, Mint State 70, indicating a coin with no visible imperfections even under close inspection. Containing one troy ounce of gold at a purity of 0.9167, the fifty-dollar denomination stands as a premier example of United States coinage. On the obverse, the design features Lady Liberty walking forward, bathed in the rays of the rising sun. This iconic image, originally created by Augustus Saint-Gaudens, is accompanied by the word LIBERTY and the year of issue, 1997. The reverse, designed by Miley Busiek, depicts a powerful family scene from nature. A male bald eagle is captured mid-flight, carrying an olive branch back to a nest where a female eagle and their young await. Inscriptions on the reverse emphasize national identity and values, reading UNITED STATES OF AMERICA alongside the mottos IN GOD WE TRUST and E PLURIBUS UNUM.
